On Self Promotion

Recently I've decided to try and become more involved with business networking and the local community. I'm finding there's only so much that Google ads, a Facebook page, and a Twitter account can get you. I'm looking to expand my circle of contacts and referrals, so I've started attending events and trying to be a little better about self promotion. This isn't something that comes naturally to me, mind you, being the introvert that I am. But I keep hearing over and over that it's the only way to really get your business going. Last night I printed up these cute promo cards in violet ink on the 8 x 12 that I plan to had out at an event tonight:


The big press was in a pretty good mood last night, though I definitely noticed he was a bit crankier than last time. I think it may have something to do with the cold - last time I went in to print, the heat had been on for quite a while before I arrived and I managed to print my way through FIVE different projects:





Granted it was all the same color, but I didn't have nearly as many inking problems as I usually do. Last night was still pretty good, though I did have some inky issues off and on. The most common problem seems to be that I'll get everything set up and begin running some prints, then at some point a part of the plate either starts getting over inked or not inked at all. It's odd, because it only starts happening after a bunch of prints have gone through. I feel like something must be moving, and I suspect it's because the chase may not be completely level. I have a similar problem at home where I have to continually bang the top or bottom of the plate base to keep it even. At some point I probably need to look into getting some newer/better chases that are flat. For now, I'm just happy when the big press seems to be in a good mood.
