Like many other people, I've recently become obsessed with the Hipstamatic for iPhone app. It totally rocks, and I've bought all the films, lenses, and flashes. You may know that a lot of my letterpress print inspiration comes from photography, like my Siluette Toscane note cards. So I was pretty excited to find this app that created all sorts of awesome effects. I was disappointed to find that there isn't a chart somewhere showing all the possible combinations of the three for the current version though, so I've decided to create my own. I've laid the chart all out, and it seems there are 336 possibilities. I set up a rather unscientific station for taking the photos:
It quickly became apparent that 1) I wasn't going to be able to take all the photos at one time. Getting through 56 on one lens is enough for one day. And 2) In order to be somewhat consistent, I'm going to have to set up a more stable environment somewhere that doesn't depend on any natural light. So, expect posts like this until I've gotten through all 6 of the lenses, and at the end I'll have a nifty chart showing all 336 possibilities. Here's what I did today (click the image to enlarge), but I'll be redoing the John S Lens from the beginning once I've got my "super scientific" station set up. The subject, by the way, is a hilarious stuffed animal my sister gave me.
